Scenic Winter Holiday

We were away for almost half of December for winter holiday which the kids longed for. A very much needed break..after working hard for the whole year. The year end is alway a period that I looked forward to, maybe its the holiday season..telling us that its time to take a rest, have a break and be merry.
Being away for more than 10 days allows us ample time to visit a few provinces, I didn’t appreciate China when I was much younger, always thinking that its a place for old folks…maybe its the age. I really enjoy sipping tea at the little indie cafes along the small rivers and little bridges of Suzhou, enjoying the magnificent view of the giant Buddha and Lingshan Fangong in Wuxi and taking a leisure sail boat ride in Hangzhou’s Xi Hu (West Lake). Shanghai was very much like Singapore in every way…a busy city. The temperature was an average of 3-4 degree Celsius with a few days of -1 , the kids were hoping to see snow, but unfortunately it didn’t..much to their disappointment. Neverthless we totally enjoyed our stay there, and looking forward to another winter holiday soon ^-^!

Belated Post: Christmas Clay Workshops at the Shopping Malls

Hope that all have been well with you, ^-^ and sorry for the long await on the updates in our blog. We have been kept busy with quite a few workshops before we set off for our year end vacation this 18-31 Dec. This year we have been keeping ourselves busy with moving to a bigger studio space and conducting some workshops in between. We are getting all excited about having 2 different children’s holiday workshops this school holiday. This year, as we’ve moved to a bigger space, we decided to have more workshops dedicate to children this school holiday, and upon the requests of some of the parents, we think that we can have more fun doing these workshops with our kids too! Yay!


Here are the details.

Candylicious Christmas Photo Frame (Workshop 1)-1 session

Learn how to make those delicious cookies, lollipops and ice-cream using clay and decorate pretty bling bling cabochons on this 4R glittery cotton candy photo frame. Parent and child will make 1 photo frame each.

Date: 22/11 (Tues) , Time: 2.30pm -4.30pm (2 hrs)

Schedule 2
Date: 3/12 ( Sat), Time: 9.30am-11.30am (2 hrs)

Fee: $38/per child or $70 (per child & parent)- All materials and tools will be provided for use during class.

Cutie Crochet Workshop (Workshop 2)- 1 session

Conducted by a very talented crafter and also a good friend of mine, in this workshop, you will get to learn how to make a cute penguin coin purse or sweet baby caterpillar bell key chain the crochet way. Make your own Christmas gifts for your friends and loved ones. Learn the simple techniques of crocheting and you are on the way to create many many more creations. If parents are interested to attend , parent and child can make one design each.

As promised ^-^ it will be a busy month for us. there will be quite a few workshops here at the studio. We will be having a “Miniature Traditional and Nonya Kuehs Making Class ” , besides the few types of Nonya Kuehs here, we will also be learning how to make the traditional Teo Chew red “Ang Gu Kuehs” and the pink “Peng Kuehs” as well. Though I do not know how to make the real ones, but I sure know how to make the miniature ones look yummy. The details of the workshop are as below.

Adult Polymer Clay Beginner Course in Oct 2011

We will be conducting the “Adult Polymer Clay Beginner Course” in this coming Oct. This course will be useful for those who have no experiences in clay works before. You will learn various skills and techniques in using polymer clay in your craft projects. There will be a total of 8 projects (as seen in the poster above) ranging from figurines to home decor and simple milliefori beads making. The whole course consist of 5 sessions (20 hours in all). Clay Roses Accessories Making Workshop

We will be having a Clay Roses Accessories Making Class on 20 Aug (part 1) and 27 Aug (part 2).

Details as below

Date: 20 Aug (Sat)- Part 1

Time: 3pm-5pm (2 hours)

Date: 27 Aug (Sat)- Part 2

Time: 3pm-4pm (1 hour)

Fee is $60 (all materials and tools will be provided for use during class)

Please note that the above pictures are just some ideas for the workshop, they will not be the actual designs that you will be making. Students will be taught the techniques of making the clay roses using their fav colours and assemble them into pendants, hair pins or brooches. This workshop consist of making 1 pendant and 1 hairpin or 1 brooch or a pair of earring (stud style) Simple necklaces will be povided for the pendants.

Miniature Dim Sum Making Class on 30th July 2011

We will be conducting a Miniature Dim Sum Making Class on 30th July 2011(Sat) at 3pm-6.30pm. (3.5 hours) In this workshop you will be taught how to make the above dishes in miniature size. 

All accessories will be supplied.  All materials and tools will also be provided for use during class.

We are back from our short trip, before we left for our trip, we had a clay roses pendants making class, and these are the result of Felicia’s beautiful handmade clay roses pendants. Fresh bouquets of roses to wear everyday. She can make them into necklaces or brooches, whatever she fancy ^-^

Little Farmers and Robots Makers

It has been a long time since we’ve update our blog, June was a busy month for us as we had approx 20 over kids holiday workshops, a 9 days fair and the move of our studio(which we will come into details later). Finally we have some time to sort out some of the photos we have taken during the classes. These are some of the cutest photos that I’ve come across through the stack of hundreds of them taken during the workshops. Hope you’ll like them. Each and every children is unique in his or her own way, thus you’ll see each and every piece of artwork special in its own way. They might not be finger print free or in perfect shape but we hope to achieve in bringing out the creativity in the children and open them up to different kind of medium.

Now for the move…for those of you who have been to our studio, will realise that its really small, (we can sit about 4 persons comfortably), as time goes by, we needed more space as our products range expand, the space become almost impossible for us to move around easily..we needed a bigger space, thus we are so glad that the new studio space that we occupy now can sit 8- 10 persons comfortably and with all our products display out in full view so that shopping is made much more easily than before. We are still going into the finer details (like hanging certain hooks, art pieces, arranging the books). Once we are ready, we will be having a little tea party for the new studio and will be inviting all to join us, but before that we will be out of town for a few days this week for our buying trip. (from 7 July-11 July) If you happen to place an order or drop us an email during this period, we will only be able to reply when we are back.
